Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the AWS Cloud Day AI edition 2024 in Perth. While the conference itself was a hub of innovation and inspiration, I made sure to carve out some time in the afternoons to explore this vibrant city with the Canon R5 and DJI Mavic 3 Cine.
Armed with a narrow 60 minutes of free time each day, I set out to capture the life in Perth. The city is a stunning blend of modern architecture and natural beauty, making it a perfect playground for a photographer.
As the day drew to a close, the streets transformed into a tapestry of life. Commuters made their way home, each person a thread in the intricate fabric of the city. I was struck by the contrasts of this bustling environment—the hurried pace of professionals juxtaposed against the serene backdrop of Perth’s architecture and nature. There was a certain beauty in this daily ritual, a reminder of the shared human experience amidst the chaos of modern life.
In reflecting on this experience, I realised that photography is more than just pressing a button; it’s about connecting with the world around us. My time spent here was not just about documenting a 60 minute window between the hustle of same-day delivery work with AWS. It was an opportunity to engage with Perth’s heartbeat, to pause and observe the beauty of everyday life. As I left, I carried with me not just outputs from Lightoom and Davinci Resolve, but a deeper appreciation for the moments that often go unnoticed, and for me, mostly unphotographed—those quiet intersections of life that connect us all, and something I aspire to capture more.
