The story
'Straight Outta Melbourne' global campaign.
The defining moment, and the trip of a lifetime. We all have that one project, that one client, that one brief that becomes the pinnacle of everything we once set out to achieve. The turning point in your career, and the approval that the exact thing you want to do in life is actually achievable. For me, this was that project.
Early in 2015, as a mechanical engineer working for the local water board, I was approached by a representative of Destination Gippsland on behalf of STA Travel UK and Visit Victoria. A new campaign was about to commence that would see Victoria advertised to the entire European continent via a collaboration with the global adventure company.
The brief
The project was to accompany two Instagram heavyweights Hannes Becker & Adam Partridge along the ultimate Victorian road trip. The trip began as far west the 12 apostles, and finished in the southernmost point of Gippsland’s very own Wilson’s Promontory. I was engaged as the filmmaker for the campaign whilst additionally acting as Victoria’s eastern travel guide, alongside Clare Younis who represented the west.
Our goal was to showcase what hidden parts of Victoria are available to explore, the types of locations that only local knowledge would give you.
