There’s that moment when you step off a plane from your home country into a foreign land; the sense of the new, the unfamiliar. It can be both a thrill, and an intimidating realisation that you’re now officially out of your comfort zone.
Sometimes, however, there’s an express route. A way to bypass the concept of foreign, and replace it with the emotional connection to home and happiness via the addition of family.
Immediately after arriving in Bologna, Italy, we were met with open arms by the other half of our family, separated by a mere 16,000km of land and ocean. The last 24 hours had been spent lighting attempting to sleep over a multitude of continents and oceans, so the jetlag was thick and heavy, yet, nothing could dampen the excitement to see the people we see so rarely, yet connect so intensely with on the other side of the globe.
This, is the true Italy.
